Everyone is also taught to believe that JFK was such a great president, but had he lived to be reelected the $hit would have hit the fan about his extramarital affairs, just like what happened to Clinton in his second term. Was Wilson a neo-con? Yes and No. Granted, Leo Strauss is considered the "godfather of neoconservatism." So, no Wilson was not REALLY a neocon, however, neoconservatism, is revived Wilsonianism. T. Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson were imperialists (ironically called "Progressives"). The so-called Progressives were the neocons of their day. 1. Lincoln's reason for fighting the Civil War was not to abolish slavery. It was for the single goal of preserving the Union. (He later joined the Abolitionist cause to the war effort, partly as political tactic.)

In a nutshell, the First World War was a racist war of aggression against the Germans, the Second World War was a racist war of aggression by the Germans (essentially revenge for the prequel). Pan-Slavism, a racist, anti-Semitic, proto-fascist ideology and the basis for the Serbo-Russian alliance, was the key factor in transforming a local war in the Balkans into a continental one. If you read once in a while, you might know stuff. American intervention led to the Treaty of Versaille.

2. America didn't win WW1. The Entente won, USA lost. (While all the Central Powers lost. It is an undisputed fact that Russia lost, big time, even though they fought on the winning side.) We lost because we entered a war beyond our national interests, and Wilson failed his goals (14 Points, League of Nations). The only nations to come out victorious were Britain, France, and Belgium

Uh, ASSHOLE. In the posts when I said the Germans posed no threat I meant during WW1. If you read all my posts, you would get the context. In WW2, the Germans DID pose a threat. They were after all, prepared to go to war with America. (And fighting the Nazis was the right thing to do). However, WW2 was NOT WW1. Though Nazi Germany was a very real threat, the alleged WW1 threat was all hype! (Also, though the Nazis and Japs were allies, to my knowledge Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on their own.)

What do you mean Lincoln did NOTHING to start the Civil War? He went to war to preserve the Union. The South wanted to secede. Lincoln said no. Not that I am taking the Confederate side. Lincoln made the best decision IMO. However, Lincoln had the CHOICE to allow the South to secede or preserve the Union. He CHOSE to preserve the Union. What you said was not wrong, just grossly over-simplified. Oh and nobody with the reading comprehension of a third grader should call anyone a "fucking idiot."

There was no Constitutional authority for Lincoln to "force" state governments to remain in the union. The Constitution was designed to dissolve the federal government or for the state to remove themselves from it if it didn't serve their people. Lincoln was wrong and unfortunately it cost us 600k people.
